Last night…

Last night went to the YMCA with Katrina and we played around in the pool a little. I don’t get a lot of personal exercise doing this, but it is more exercise than sitting on the couch at home.

Katrina’s doing better with doing ‘torpedos’ and is actually getting to the point where she can do actually do mini-swims doing those.  In May she starts up swim lessons again.

Yesterday we didn’t have overtime at work. Today, Overtime started up yet again…  When we have OT I don’t have time to do any big lunch workouts, and typically don’t do ‘at work’ workouts… but may sometimes still do some curls using the dumb bell in the car.  Not much time to do a lot other than simply eat lunch when only break you have all day lone is a 30 minute break (my employer doesn’t do the 15 minute break thing. Lunch is only break of the entire day. When we are not on OT mode Lunch is an hour long. When we are in OT mode it’s only half an hour. I personally think they do things this way to save money in a roundabout way so that the the employer isn’t paying for breaks as many other employers do… just something you have to deal with when working for a small time business.  We have other benefits that sort of balance it out.)

Ibuprofen and Massage

Interesting article on muscle soreness.

In summary, ibuprofen taken before or after a workout, and massage afterward (sometimes a lot of massage), can reduce DOMS, but stretching before a workout doesn’t seem to help. Although there is no evidence that stretching after exercise reduces DOMS, I have seen light cardio for eight to 10 minutes followed by stretching reduce DOMS.
